5 Ways To Style A Maxi Dress

I’m pretty sure we all have a maxi dress, or two, in our wardrobe, right?  Maxi dresses are simple and easy to throw on, you don’t have to worry about coordinating with a top or bottom, all you have to do is pair your dress and shoes, and you’re all set.

But for those that struggle with thinking of different ways to style their maxi dresses outside of the obvious dress and sandal pairing, here are five different ways you can update one of your favorite summer staples.

Layering your look during the summer seems to be more of an afterthought, it’s hot, and the last thing you want to do is add on an additional layer, but as we all know, there are always options.

The key with layering is sticking to lightweight fabrics and playing around with the different lengths, styles, fits, and sleeve lengths to help create balance within your look.

When styling a maxi dress and a layer together, you have to pay close attention to your proportions.  You don’t want to hide your frame, pack on unintentional bulk, or shorten your frame underneath your layers.

From the different styles, lengths, and shapes, I know it can get a little confusing on how to add on a layer to avoid the above from happening, so I have broken down different styling tips and tricks on how to dress for your body and put together outfits that flatter in my eBook, Summer Outfit Combinations

This utility jacket gives this feminine dress a masculine touch and helps to dress down your look with the assistance of the remaining add-on pieces.  There is no such thing as labels! All of your pieces can be dressed up or dressed down.
